FYI (for your information - for those of you, like Changda, who don't know what it stands for ^^), those involved in SLC, meeting will most probably commence at around 10am - 10.30am only for the Operations Department.

As for SLI, the two of you involved, please be present. =) And if you are unable to attend, please inform someone who's going for the meeting. ^^

I know there hasn't been an update for quite a long time
but EXCO for BBQ, I need to have another meeting regarding the dates and update on planning.
Date of meeting will be confirmed.

OK.The meeting for BBQ exco will be on this coming Monday,around 1pm.

Hey Junior Leaders!

Danial here. =) My first post on this blog. ^_^

So... The purpose of this post is to solicit volunteers to help out in the organizing of 2008's Student Leaders' Investiture (SLI).

This is an opportunity for you guys to learn behind-the-scenes stuff in organizing a fairly large-scale event. You can see how meetings are carried out, how things are done and the like. It might help when you guys take over your CCAs and have to plan similar events.

However, we only have space for a maximum of six volunteers.

The first meeting would be this coming Thursday, the 6th of December. It would start around 1pm.

Those interested, please e-mail me your names at c_e31@hotmail.com. If you have any queries or stuff? You can e-mail them to me or add me on MSN and ask me there. For those of you who already have my handphone number, don't bother calling/ SMS-ing. It's out commission.

Lastly, for those who've read this, please spread this message to as many of the JLs as possible. I'm hoping for at least three to four volunteers.

P.S. Those already involved in SLC, be it via Monitors' Council, Peer Support Board, Prefectorial Board or VELOCI-T, you guys are not eligible for this. =)

Hi guys!!Bing Yu here!!
After hearing some words about an LTC webpage, I went to google it and managed to find the site. As JLs, i do feel that it is important for us to know the history of LTC and CIC, and finally VELOCI-T. So below are what i've found out.

History Of VSLTC

Introduction to LTC

Victoria School's first Leadership Training Camp (LTC) was conducted in 1989 when only a group of forty secondary school student applicants (called Trainees) were trained in outdoor activities. ONLY when the trainees had met the high expectations of a Victorian Leader, would they then be promoted to camp Instructors. their training was put to test when each of them led a small group of peers during the Secondary One and Three Orientation Camps, which were held in January the following year.

The system changed in 2003, when the Camp Instructor Course (CIC) was set up, Trainees that went to CIC were now promoted to Camp Instructors. LTC has a new role. It was now conducted to train the CCA leaders. The best of these trainees were promoted to Junior Leaders when they had met the expectations of the Victorian Senior Leaders.

The system is now in place to identify and exploit potential in our Victorians and the LTC is where these leadership attributes can be practiced and enhanced.

Objectives of the camp

1) Through the Leadership Training Camp, the Trainees would be exposed to outdoor activities where they will be taught to exercise and develop leadership skills.

2) To teach Victorians to carry on the rich traditions of this fine institution and ensure that the Victorian Spirit lives on.

3) To develop that potential in each and every Victorian to become leaders of the school and in their respective CCAs.

The above is true as of 2004. As you know, Mr Jonathan Oh have left VS. In the new VELOCI-T, Mr Siow is too, a teacher in charge.


As for the Cheers and Campfire Songs, it's here. Please familiarizes yourselve with the VS cheers and CampFire Songs as we will be leading the rest of the schools in cheers in school events and the Campfire songs in Camps.

Food
Food. Endy makes sure that everyone can eat the food. Muslims, taoists etc.

Plan Activities for the day. Choose location etc.(note that location is still tentatve.)

Cleaning
Organising cleaning after the BBQ. We leave the place cleaner than it was before. Black Plastic bags are brought by chosen member(s) of cleaning dept.

Safety
Ensure safety of the group at all times. ALL red cross members. Some volunteers.

Administrative
Absentees and Attendence. Notification, apart from this blog.

For the timing for BBQ right, i would like it to be a half day event. Which means, in the morning, the EXCO will be in school to settle all the admin stuffs and collection. etc. If all goes well, i would like all available JLs and SLs to be in school at around 2pm? We can then have some activities like soccer/basketball competition and such.
For those who can't come at 2pm, please be in school by 4.30pm? We can then finish all the BBQ preparation.

Welcome

Welcome to the blog of Victoria School Junior Leaders. This blog was created to act as a communication portal between current JLs and SLs, as well as those in the future. On our hand now, We, JLs, have to plan a BBQ for ourselves and the SLs. I hope to have a meeting in school this coming Monday, 26 of Nov 2007. I sincerely hope that all of you can come down for the meeting. It will be held in the school canteen at 10am.

On another hand, those interested in contributing to this blog are welcomed to tag or look for bing yu or damien.
